Tapping in to Unstoppable Life! Want to help??

What an amazing morning of Baptisms!!

It was my high honour to baptize four of our KV East church community last Sunday! As part of the growing church community called Kings Valley Church we are located in Eastside Saint John.

In light of Sunday people have been asking how they can get involved so

I decided to repost this article from a few weeks ago!!

We are all about “making disciples”! You may be wondering; “What is THAT?”. Making disciples means that we exist to welcome EVERYONE to come ALIVE in God through faith in Jesus Christ.

One of the main points of activation for people is “Baptism”. Through the unique experience of baptism men & women, boys & girls express their faith in Jesus Christ, join the family of God and testify to their lifelong commitment to God and His mission. In other words “IT IS AN AWESOME LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE”!

We are purchasing a portable baptism pool.

We used a new portable baptism pool last Sunday, May 31, 2015 for our first baptism party on site at the Cineplex Theatre on the Eastside.  It worked GREAT! Having the pool makes it very easy for us on location there AND it will also allow us to setup just about anywhere to host more baptism parties!

The total cost of the Portable Baptism Pool is $4500. We have $450 raised currently.

Would you like to help invite hundreds of people

to come alive through faith in Jesus Christ

in the Saint John region?

Top 5 Reasons Why I Would Love Your Help @ KV East Saint John

I am LOVING this season of my life serving on the lead staff of Kings Valley Church! We are; “One Church meeting in Two locations”. I have the privilege of serving as Lead Pastor of our East Saint John campus, KV East SJ.

It is definitely a dream come true to work with our awesome KV East staff and volunteer lead team. Though God has provided many amazing ministry adventures in the past, THIS by far feels like the BEST opportunity of my life.

This morning I woke up wanting to let you know that I would LOVE your help!

Specifically, if you attend Kings Valley Church or have a fire in your heart to see God’s glory and followers of Jesus raised up in the Saint John region I have written this for YOU.

I believe with all of my heart & soul that God is breathing new life into our city. Kings Valley Church gets to be part of planting, growing, building in Jesus Name here! In my heart I can see so many results and so much fruit over the next 5-10 years if we will trust the Spirit and give our lives to God’s vision for this beautiful place.

But, it won’t happen without His hands & feet… that’s You and me. I seriously don’t want you to miss out on what could be the greatest adventure of your life!

So, here are my “Top Five” reasons why I need and would love your help:

1. People need their confidence restored in authentic church community. We all know so many “Saint  Johners” who have a church background but church life has no real place in their everyday lives. You can help us show them what that looks like and welcome them to join us. We need you!

2. I need people like you to lead the way in helping the people of KV Church accomplish God’s mission for us in Saint John. KV East Saint John is a top priority project for Kings Valley. If you and others aren’t intentional, we could forget that our mission will be carried forward only as people roll up their sleeves and make it their own! You are needed to lead others by your example! We need you!

3. SO MANY people need to be reached. Only 10% of the population of Saint John regularly attend a local church! The thousands needing to experience Jesus’ presence in the midst of a church community cannot be reached by just a small team of us! We need you!

4. It will take significant investment to build KV East. Over the next decade and beyond I am by the grace of God going to invest my life & resources in what God is planning to do through KV East, I am asking you to do the same. It’s going to cost us but the benefits & blessings in Jesus Name and for His fame are beyond worth! We need you!

5. Probably my favorite reason is this: Jesus is building KV East with people like you! Many years ago I said “YES” to a call from God to pray & partner with Him to see workers sent into the harvest. What that means to you is that I love love love to help people get activated in their gifts and calling to help others experience the Father’s blessing through faith in Jesus Christ. We need you!

So, there you have it! I would LOVE to talk with you and help you get involved. Reply here, call or text me at 506-650-2600, pm me on facebook or email danclamos@gmail.com. Come on out and join us at Cineplex 10:30 am on Sunday and/or Glen Falls School on Rothesay Avenue each Wednesday 6:30 pm. KV Kidz program is offered at both times & locations.

Breathe fresh fire into your praying!

Many of us have memories of praying “The Lord’s Prayer” or “The Our Father” in our childhood years. It may or may not have meant very much to you. Often it is used to make an emotional/sentimental journey of comfort for people at a time of great need in their lives. I get that! But, we all know even at an intuitive level that there is much more to what Jesus had in mind as He taught his followers how to pray! The prayer found in Matthew 6:9-13 is designed as a resource to help us commune with our Father in heaven who is within us and all around us by the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus.

The phrase that echoes in our minds… “Thy kingdom come Thy will be done on earth as in heaven” is a treasure of wisdom and empowerment.

Try praying it this way:

Father, Let the culture of heaven invade & surround my life today.”

In this prayer I am inviting you to substitute the phrase “culture of heaven” for the word “kingdom” and the phrase “my life today” for “on earth”.

In order to engage with the LIFE God has blessed us with as part of His family we need to desire to experience life according to His house rules! What’s it like in The Father’s house? That’s the way it should be in and around our relationships with friends & enemies here and now in THIS day.

So breathe some fresh fire into your praying and invite the culture of heaven to invade you and this moment right here and right now!

Jesus prays for us…

In John 17:20 Jesus says, “I am praying… for all who will ever believe in me through their message.” If you are believing in Jesus today, it is a result of the message that has been passed down to you through many generations from the original apostles. Therefore, this prayer request is for you.

Jesus prayer for you didn’t end that day in the Garden of Gethsemane. The early church taught that Jesus rose from the dead, ascended to the right hand of the Father, was given the name that is above every name & that he poured out the Spirit on all people.  Anyone who will receive Jesus and believe in Him has the right to declare that they are a son or daughter of God. The living presence of Jesus comes to live with us and in us.

He isn’t confined to the past, to a set of beliefs or doctrines. We benefit greatly from studying the historical Jesus and we are nurtured and anchored through our beliefs and doctrines. But, Jesus is more than that! He is alive. To this very day, Jesus is fulfilling His plan in building His Church.

When we talk about “knowing” Jesus, we are talking about having a living relationship with the ascended Jesus. His Spirit is with us and even in us as we are united with Him and each other through Jesus life.

What about Jesus prayers for you? Does he still remember you to the Father? A vital teaching from the New Testament is that Jesus is continually interceding for us. Romans 8 is stuffed full of powerful affirmations of the reality that the Spirit of Jesus himself has entered our lives and dwells in us as children of God through faith in Him. In v. 34 we are taught that Jesus pleads our case to the Father and in vv. 26-27 Paul writes about the Holy Spirit helping us by interceding for us.

As we grow as friends of Jesus & co-workers with him, it is crucial that we remember that His agenda and the desires of His heart are what shape and form us into the Church. It is true that our response is required in order to “flesh out” the church on the earth. But, it is still at His initiative!

Have you surrendered your will, your heart and your daily agenda to Jesus? Have you had the eyes of your heart opened to understand that He is praying for you continually? In order to have our lives shaped and conformed to his prayer in John 17:20-26, there is no other way we can begin other than surrendering each day to His active will and mission in our world and in our lives.

Update: Getting activated as KV Family Pastor

The past few weeks have been on fire with excitement and energy as we have welcomed our new youth pastor, Del Heiney to  the Kings Valley pastor team! He is such a great fit and God has already been blessing all of us as Pastor Del has engaged with the students and families of KV Church.

The biggest blessing for me is that I am able to fully embrace my ministry assignment as Family Pastor. Pastor Brent Ingersoll and the LBA created this position in the Fall of 2012 and I am honored and excited  that Brent asked me to serve in this capacity! I gladly accepted the temporary role of leading KV Youth Middle & High School ministries from Nov 2012 – present during the youth pastor search process. During that time period it was necessary for me to put my Family Pastor responsibilities on hold.  With Del arriving as youth pastor I was able to immediately reconnect with my role.

I love pastoring and there is absolutely no doubt in me that God has called me to partner with Pastor Brent and the pastor team to serve our KV Church family in this way.

As Family Pastor, here is a general description of my core responsibilities: Pastoral Care (hospital visits, counselling, home visits), Prayer Ministry (FUEL, prayer teams), Family Ministry (equipping parents & families as disciple makers) as well as helping families by conducting milestone events (child dedications, weddings, funerals).  In the spirit of building a disciple making community, I will be intentionally seeking out and building teams to serve in each of these areas. I would love to hear from you if you are curious and/or have a burn in your heart to get involved!

We are in an amazing season in the life of Kings Valley! There are very fulfilling days of life and expansion for the kingdom ahead of us. We have all witnessed the grace of God on Pastor Brent and every member of the pastor team. It is our desire to help every person associated with Kings Valley to get activated in worship, loving others, making disciples and living together in kingdom community. By God’s grace I am hitting the ground running in helping you get activated as a child of God serving His kingdom in your everyday life!

I am blessed beyond words and stoked to have this opportunity to serve you as Family Pastor! Feel free to contact me: email: dan.lamos@kingsvalley.ca, text or phone: 506-650-2600.

Grace & Peace,

Dan

Stoked for what is coming!

Wow! It is so fun to be part of Kings Valley Church! I am super pumped about the opportunity I have to help families love Jesus and live for the honour of his name. I am going to have fun posting here on this new blog. I hope you drop in often to check out what’s happening in this rambling, churning imagination of mine. My real desire is to stir you up for what is coming! The future of God’s kingdom is coming to meet us and it is gonna be amazing! Through knowing Jesus Christ and becoming sons and daughters of God we are going to be right in the thick of it.

Super proud of Pastor Brent and the team that he is pulling together! Don’t hold back if God is stirring you to roll up your sleeves and to get involved in taking KV Church into the future. There is lots to do for sure!

One of the cool things I am deeply involved in right now is overseeing KV Youth while we search for a new youth pastor. We need all hands on deck and lots of volunteer help to support this hugely important ministry. So, parents of students and other interested volunteers can get in touch with me and I will happily put you to work 🙂

Thanks for dropping in to danlamos.com and drop in often!

Peace,

Dan

I don’t want to grow up!

One of the things I love about the Bible is that the writers use powerful word pictures and images to express ideas and highlight realities God wants us to experience.

Jesus followers throughout history, today and on into the future are pictured as a body. Each of us is a part.
God is intense in His purpose to activate us into a life of kingdom service in our ordinary lives. We are His plan wherever we go today.
As we get moving we “grow up” and together we will become the full expression of who Jesus is on a worldwide scale!
Part of growing up is learning to walk the balance beam of carrying each others burdens while we carry our own load. Take a few minutes today to ask the Holy Spirit what that means in your life and courage for all of us to “grow up” in our love for each other.

Jesus “Brand”

Many of us are becoming aware of something on the wind today.

One of Jesus best friends, John wrote: “Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.” I John 2:6

Living the “brand” of life that Jesus lived is very costly and you pay in deep personal surrender to the greatest force in the universe… LOVE.

Part of what makes it so costly is that every one of us must allow it’s intensity to burn away everything that makes us hold back and keep things for ourself. Though we deeply value our churches and the support of friends and family, we can only enter the life Jesus wants us to live through a personal journey with him.

Do you feel the momentum growing in our world? There is a cry stirring in hearts everywhere; “Can anyone show us the way”?

If we are praying people in our times, may we swear allegiance to loving with His love and ask Him to “brand” us to display it in our ordinary everyday lives.

Restlessly Longing for Faith to Grab the Swinging Trapeze

Am I alone in the nagging tension and restlessness I feel with the instability of our world against the backdrop of the hope we are called to offer to the nations?

The past week I have been really into Matt Redman’s new release called “10,000 Reasons”. One of the tracks is called “We Could Change The World”.

When Jesus was launched into his three years in the public eye, his message was “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

Here are the lyrics for the chorus of “We Could Change The World”:

Yes, our God is all He says He is
Jesus in Your name we could change the world
We stand in Your love, in your power
All you say You are
Jesus, in your name we could change the world.
In order to live the change that Jesus announced 2,000 years ago, we need to recapture the vision of a kingdom that has come to invade life as we know it.
God is looking for people who are ready to embrace a faith that calls us to let go of the security of what has been and to launch out to grab the swinging trapeze coming to us.
May we soon become an uprising of ordinary people who are just wild enough to believe we can change the world!
